Why is your TikTok stuck at 200 views?

Eight questions, two minutes. Find out which of the six failure modes is capping your reach, and exactly what to fix first.

Question 1 of 8

How do your videos usually open?

What 200 views actually means.

Around 200 views is TikTok's default test batch. Every video you post gets handed to a small trial audience, and what that audience does in the first minutes decides whether the video graduates to a bigger one. Stalling at 200 does not mean you were flagged, buried, or shadowbanned. It means the test audience watched, and did not bite.

That reframe matters because it changes what you do next. A punishment has no fix, you just wait it out or start over. A signal has a fix, because it is telling you exactly where the video lost people. Every 200-view video is a free, fast experiment result. The creators who break out are the ones who read the result and adjust, instead of posting the same video shape 40 more times.

The order to fix things in.

Fix the hook first, watch time second, everything else after. The hook decides whether anyone sees the rest of the video at all, and watch time decides whether the algorithm shows it to more people. Until those two are working, improvements to your niche focus, your ideas, or your captions are invisible, because nobody is staying long enough to notice them.

Most creators do the opposite. They fix packaging first, because rewriting a caption is easier than admitting the first two seconds are boring. That is backwards. A sharper caption on a video people abandon at second three changes nothing. Spend your next ten videos on nothing but openers and retention, and only then start tuning the rest of the stack.
